Caramelized Onion and Brie Tart

A savory tart combining caramelized onions and creamy brie cheese on a flaky puff pastry crust.

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 ounces brie cheese, sliced
  • Fresh thyme, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, for 20-30 minutes until caramelized. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the puff pastry.
  6. Arrange the sliced brie cheese on top of the onions.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  8. If desired, garnish with fresh thyme before serving. Serve warm.

Notes

This tart is versatile, serving as an appetizer, main dish, or side. Enjoy it warm or at room temperature. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
