Delightful dessert combining rich, fudgy brownies and airy chocolate mousse, topped with glossy ganache.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for mousse
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate for ganache
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream for ganache

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and melted butter until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract, flour, and salt until combined.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  6. Allow to cool completely in the pan.
  7. For the mousse, melt the chocolate chips in a saucepan over low heat. Stir until smooth and let cool slightly.
  8. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  9. Carefully fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream until combined and smooth.
  10. Spread the mousse evenly over the cooled brownies.
  11. For the ganache, heat 1/4 cup of cream in a saucepan until it starts to boil. Pour hot cream over the semi-sweet chocolate in a bowl, and let sit for a minute. Stir until smooth.
  12. Pour the ganache over the mousse layer and spread evenly.
  13. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing into squares.
