Christmas Chai Latte

A cozy and festive chai latte spiced with warm flavors, perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups milk (or a plant-based alternative)
  • 1 tbsp black tea leaves (or 2 black tea bags)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • A pinch of ground black pepper
  • For the Whipped Cream: 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp of the spice mix

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground ginger, ground cardamom, ground nutmeg, and ground black pepper. Set aside 1/4 teaspoon of this spice mix for the whipped cream.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the water, black tea leaves (or tea bags), brown sugar, and the remaining spice mix.
  3. Place the saucepan on medium heat and gently heat the mixture until it just starts to simmer. Stir occasionally.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, stir in the milk, and let it steep for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and strain the chai into mugs using a fine strainer.
  6. In a mixing bowl, whisk the heavy cream with the honey and reserved spice mix until soft peaks form.
  7. Spoon or pipe the whipped cream over the chai latte and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg before serving.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!
