Christmas Hot Chocolate

A rich and festive take on traditional hot chocolate, perfect for cozy winter nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces evaporated milk (canned)
  • 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons Kahlua (or another liqueur such as Frangelico or Amaretto)
  • 1/21 teaspoon espresso powder
  • Milk (to thin it down a bit)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, add the evaporated milk and chocolate.
  2. Stir the mixture continuously until the chocolate melts completely, about 3 minutes.
  3. Once melted, stir in the salt, vanilla extract, Kahlua, and espresso powder.
  4. Let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  5. If the hot chocolate is too rich or thick, add a bit of milk to reach your desired consistency.
  6. Serve it warm in your favorite mugs.

Notes

For added flair, top with whipped cream, crushed peppermint candies, or mini marshmallows.
