Grandma’s Fluffy Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins

These delightful muffins combine the goodness of donuts with the simplicity of muffins, perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.

  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ½ cup Butter, melted and cooled
  • ½ cup Granulated Sugar (for rolling)
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Cinnamon (for rolling)
  • ¼ cup Butter, melted (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your muffin tins by greasing or lining them with paper cups.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg, then mix in the milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter until well combined.
  4. Gently combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed; do not overmix.
  5. Fill each muffin cup about two-thirds full with the batter.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the muffins to cool for 5 minutes in the pan, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Dip the warm muffins in melted butter, then roll them in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar for a delightful finish.
