Cinnamon Sugar Twist Donuts

Delightful and easy-to-make baked donuts with a sweet cinnamon sugar coating, perfect for breakfast or snacks.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until uniform in texture.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Divide the dough into strips, then twist each strip into donut shapes.
  6. Place each twisted donut into the greased donut pan.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. While the donuts are baking, mix the extra sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  9. Once baked, cool the donuts slightly, then roll each in the cinnamon sugar mixture before serving warm.

Notes

For a healthier option, you can use whole wheat flour or a sugar substitute. Serve with Greek yogurt for extra protein.
