Creamy Delight of Whipped Hot Chocolate

A delightful hot chocolate topped with a creamy whipped chocolate mix, perfect for chilly days.

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (or powdered sugar)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (or milk for a lighter option)
  • 2 cups whole milk (or your favorite milk alternative)
  • 2 oz milk or dark chocolate, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream (optional garnish)
  • Chocolate shavings (optional garnish)
  • Mini marshmallows (optional garnish)
  • Crushed peppermint or cinnamon (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, and heavy cream until smooth and creamy. Use a whisk or electric mixer to whip until light and fluffy, then set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until steaming; stir in chopped chocolate until melted and smooth, then add vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the hot chocolate into a mug. Spoon the whipped chocolate over the top.
  4. Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, marshmallows, or your favorite toppings. Serve immediately.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Mix cocoa powder and sugar ahead and store in an airtight container. Chop chocolate in advance. Prepare milk in the fridge for quick assembly.
