Dirty Horchata

Dirty Horchata is a delicious twist on the traditional Mexican drink, combining creamy horchata with robust coffee for a refreshing treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • ¾ cup almonds
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3½ cups water
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ can sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup ground coffee
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Soak the uncooked rice, almonds, and cinnamon sticks in water overnight.
  2. Drain the mixture and blend the soaked rice, almonds, cinnamon, and soaking water until smooth.
  3. Strain the blended mixture into a bowl using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
  4. In the blender, add the strained liquid, vanilla, and sweetened condensed milk, and blend until smooth.
  5. Brew the ground coffee using your favorite method.
  6. Serve by filling a glass with ice, pouring horchata over the ice, and then adding coffee on top. Stir well to mix.

Notes

Serve Dirty Horchata with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon on top for an extra touch. Pairs well with churros and Mexican pastries.
