Fire Cider Immune Booster

A tangy, spicy apple cider vinegar concoction loaded with immune-boosting ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Fresh garlic cloves (about 1/4 cup, smashed)
  • Yellow onion (1 medium, rough chopped)
  • Fresh ginger (two thumbs’ worth, sliced)
  • Horseradish root (2 tablespoons, grated)
  • Hot peppers (1-2, any kind you like, sliced)
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • Black peppercorns (about 1 tsp)
  • Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (enough to fill the jar)
  • Honey (2-3 tablespoons or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prep all the ingredients: chop garlic, onion, and ginger; grate horseradish.
  2. Toss everything except honey into a large glass jar.
  3. Pour apple cider vinegar over the ingredients until covered.
  4. Seal the jar, shake it a bit, and store it in a cool, dark place for about three weeks, shaking as needed.
  5. After three weeks, strain the liquid and mix in honey to taste.

Notes

Customize the spice level by adjusting the amount of peppers and garlic to your preference. Use a wide-mouthed jar for easier handling.
