Easy Caprese Skewers with Balsamic Glaze

Vibrant cherry tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil threaded onto skewers and finished with a glossy balsamic glaze—an effortless, no-cook appetizer that dazzles at any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
  • Fresh basil leaves (about 20 large leaves)
  • For the balsamic glaze (optional if not store-bought)
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • Wooden or bamboo skewers
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper
  • Extra virgin olive oil, for optional drizzle

Instructions

  1. If making glaze, simmer balsamic vinegar in a small saucepan over medium-low until reduced by half and syrupy; cool.
  2. Wash and thoroughly dry tomatoes and basil; gently pat mozzarella balls dry with paper towels.
  3. Thread in order: tomato, basil leaf (fold if large), mozzarella ball; repeat to fill skewer, leaving a small handle.
  4. Arrange completed skewers on a serving platter. Drizzle with balsamic glaze, season with salt and pepper, and add a light olive-oil drizzle if desired.
  5. Serve immediately or refrigerate up to 4 hours, adding glaze just before guests arrive for the freshest look.

Notes

Assemble skewers up to 4 hours ahead; keep covered and chilled. Drizzle balsamic glaze at the last minute to preserve the basil’s vibrant color and prevent excess moisture.
