Easy Ginger Pear Puff Pastry Tart

This delightful dessert combines sweet pears and spicy ginger, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, defrosted
  • 2 pears, thinly sliced
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 Tbsp light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, finely minced
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp demerara sugar (or coarse sanding sugar)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400℉ (200℃).
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Roll out the defrosted puff pastry on a lightly-floured surface and cut a rectangle about 7 inches by 10 inches.
  4. Transfer the puff pastry to the prepared baking sheet.
  5. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, minced ginger, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
  6. Brush the butter mixture generously over the puff pastry.
  7. Layer the sliced pears on top, leaving a 3/4 inch border.
  8. Brush the remaining butter mixture over the pears.
  9. Sprinkle demerara sugar over the pears.
  10. Bake for 15-18 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  11. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
