Easy Mulled Apple Cider

A comforting and flavorful beverage made with fresh apple cider, spices, and fruits, perfect for chilly days and gatherings.

  • 6 cups fresh apple cider or unfiltered apple juice
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise (optional)
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 sliced orange
  • 1 sliced lemon (optional)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Stovetop Method: In a medium-sized saucepan, pour in 6 cups of apple cider.
  2. Add 3 cinnamon sticks, 2 star anise, and 4 cloves.
  3. Slice the orange and add it to the cider; include lemon slices if desired.
  4. Heat over medium-high until it starts to bubble, then cover and reduce to low. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  5. Taste the cider and adjust sweetness with brown sugar or syrup as desired.
  6. Serve in mugs with orange slices and star anise for garnish.
  7. Crock Pot Method: In a slow cooker, combine cider, cinnamon, star anise, and cloves.
  8. Add sliced orange and optional lemon.
  9. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 2.5 hours.
  10. Taste for sweetness and adjust if necessary before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a slice of orange and a star anise. Pairs well with cookies or muffins.
