Floral Mead

A refreshing beverage that combines the sweetness of raw honey with fragrant golden dandelion petals, perfect for summer gatherings and unique cocktails.

Ingredients

  • Golden dandelion petals (about 4 cups)
  • Raw honey (2-3 cups)
  • Water (1 gallon)
  • Yeast (follow package instructions for type and amount)

Instructions

  1. Gather golden dandelion petals, ensuring they are clean and free of contaminants.
  2. In a large pot, bring 1 gallon of water to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat and add the dandelion petals, stirring well.
  4. Allow the mixture to steep for about 30 minutes.
  5. Strain the liquid into a clean fermentation vessel, discarding the petals.
  6. Add 2-3 cups of raw honey to the warm dandelion infusion, stirring until fully dissolved.
  7. Once the mixture cools to room temperature, add yeast according to package instructions.
  8. Seal the fermentation vessel with an airlock and allow it to ferment in a cool, dark place for about 2-4 weeks.
  9. Once fermentation is complete, bottle your mead and let it age for a few weeks before enjoying.
  10. Share with friends and savor the flavors of medieval sunshine!

Notes

Mead improves over time, so allow it to age for the best flavor.
