Flower Cookies

Delightful, soft, and buttery cookies shaped like flowers, perfect for a fun treat any day.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Sprinkles or edible decorations (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla until well combined.
  5. Gradually stir in the flour mixture until just combined.
  6. If using, divide the dough and mix in food coloring.
  7. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Use flower-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies.
  9. Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Sprinkle with edible decorations if desired.
  11. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  12. Let cool before serving.

Notes

For a healthier version, reduce sugar and swap half of the all-purpose flour for whole wheat pastry flour.
