French Onion Soup Burgers

A delicious fusion of classic French onion soup and juicy burgers, perfect for cookouts and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of cheese (Gruyère or Swiss)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Beef broth or stock (optional for added flavor)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions, and cook until they are soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally and season with salt and pepper.
  2. While the onions are cooking, shape the ground beef into burger patties and season them with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the burger patties on a grill or skillet to your desired doneness, monitoring the cooking time.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover to help the cheese melt.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing the cooked patties on the buns and topping with caramelized onions. Serve with beef broth on the side for dipping.

Notes

Use high-quality ground beef for better flavor and toast the buns for added texture.
