Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup hibiscus tea, frozen in an ice cube tray
  • ¾ cup cold oat milk, frothed
  • ½ teaspoon ceremonial matcha powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew 1 cup of strong hibiscus tea and allow to cool completely.
  2. Pour the tea into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid (at least 4 hours).
  3. Heat ¼ cup water to about 175°F (80°C).
  4. In a bowl, whisk together matcha, cardamom, and simple syrup (if using) with hot water until frothy.
  5. Let matcha cool to room temperature.
  6. Fill a tall glass with hibiscus ice cubes.
  7. Pour cooled matcha mixture over the ice.
  8. Froth cold oat milk and gently pour it over the matcha to create a gradient effect.
  9. Serve immediately with a straw for optional stirring.

Notes

Steep hibiscus tea strong for vivid color. Cool matcha before pouring over ice to slow melting. Use ceremonial matcha for best taste and color. Cardamom is potent – start with less if unsure. Adjust sweetener to taste for balance between tart and earthy flavors.
