Holiday Spice Bread with Whipped Honey Butter

This delightful bread filled with spices is perfect for the holiday season, complemented by a sweet and creamy whipped honey butter.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8 Tablespoons (1 stick) butter, divided
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 Tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 44 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened for whipped honey butter
  • ¼ cup honey for whipped honey butter
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Place warm water in the stand mixer bowl, sprinkle yeast over it, and let it become foamy.
  2. Pour milk into a measuring cup, add 6 Tablespoons of butter, and microwave until warmed and melted, then stir.
  3. Add honey, milk mixture, spices, and salt to foamy yeast; beat on low until blended. Gradually add flour, scraping the bowl. Include egg and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Butter a large bowl, transfer dough into it, and turn to coat. Cover with a towel and let rise for about 60 minutes until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, knead a few times, place it in a greased casserole dish, cover, and let rise another hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake for 60 minutes or until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped. Brush the top with remaining melted butter and cool in the pan.
  7. For the whipped honey butter, beat softened butter in a stand mixer until smooth, then add honey and vanilla, and beat until fluffy. Store in the refrigerator.
