Old Fashioned Banana Bread

A classic banana bread recipe that turns ripe bananas into a delicious loaf, perfect for beginners.

  • 3 medium-size extra ripe bananas (mashed, about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9X5 loaf pan by spraying it with nonstick spray and lining the bottom and two sides with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, mash the 3 bananas using a fork.
  4. Add the sugar to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  5. Stir in the eggs, vanilla extract, and canola oil until smooth.
  6. In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Combine the sifted dry ingredients with the banana mixture, stirring just until mixed.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake for 45-50 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  10. Let the bread cool completely in the pan before removing it.

Notes

For extra flavor, feel free to add nuts or chocolate chips to the batter.
