Homemade Boba Milk Tea

A delightful drink that combines black tea with sweet tapioca pearls, customizable to your taste.

Ingredients

  • Water (as called for on boba packaging and for brewing tea)
  • 1 cup black tapioca pearls
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup (divided)
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 3 cups milk (any type)
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Prep Black Tea: Boil water as directed on the black tea bags and brew the tea according to package instructions. Let it cool in the refrigerator.
  2. Cook Boba: Cook the black tapioca pearls following the package instructions. Place cooked boba in a small bowl.
  3. Add Simple Syrup to Boba: Add 1/4 cup of simple syrup to the bowl of boba and stir gently to coat the pearls. Set aside.
  4. Prepare Glasses: Divide the prepared boba evenly among four glasses.
  5. Add Ice: Add a layer of ice on top of the boba in each glass.
  6. Mix Tea and Milk: Pour 3/4 cup of black tea into each glass, followed by 3/4 cup of milk.
  7. Add More Sweetness: Stir in 1 tablespoon of simple syrup to each glass, adjusting to taste.
  8. Final Touch: Add a boba straw to each glass and serve immediately.

Notes

Best served fresh, but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Keep boba separate to maintain texture.
