Homemade Worcestershire Sauce

A homemade Worcestershire sauce that’s tangy, savory, and customizable, perfect for enhancing the flavor of various dishes.

  • 6 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan.
  2. Pour in the soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and lemon juice.
  3. Add brown sugar, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, ground ginger, ground cloves, black pepper, and chili flakes (if using).
  4. Pour in the water and mix everything well.
  5. Simmer on low heat for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Let it cool for a few minutes.
  7. Blend the mixture until smooth.
  8. Strain through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth for a smoother texture.
  9. Store in a clean bottle in the refrigerator.

Notes

Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one month. Freeze in small portions for longer storage.
