Classic Cinnamon Rolls

Delicious and soft cinnamon rolls that are perfect for breakfast or brunch, easy to prepare and bake fresh at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of warm milk with 2 teaspoons of yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of melted butter, and 2 eggs. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add 4 cups of flour and 1 teaspoon of salt into the mixture. Stir until it forms a dough.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 5-10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  5. While the dough is rising, mix 1 cup of brown sugar with 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon in a bowl to prepare the filling.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface.
  7. Spread about 1/2 cup of softened butter over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the surface.
  8. Starting from one side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Grease a baking dish and place the cinnamon rolls in it, leaving some space between them. Cover with plastic wrap and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. In a bowl, mix together 8 oz of cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and 1/2 cup of maple syrup until smooth to make the frosting.
  12. Once the rolls are out of the oven, spread the frosting over them while they are still warm.
