Juicy French Onion Pot Roast

A delightful pot roast infused with the rich flavors of French onion soup, perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

  • 34 lbs beef pot roast
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup French onion soup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for searing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a large Dutch oven, heat some olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Sprinkle the pot roast with salt and pepper and sear on all sides until nicely browned, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  4. Remove the roast from the pot and set it aside on a plate.
  5. Add sliced onions to the pot and sauté for about 10-15 minutes until soft and golden brown.
  6. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  7. Return the seared pot roast to the pot.
  8. Pour in the beef broth, French onion soup, Worcestershire sauce, and add the thyme.
  9. Cover the pot and place it in the preheated oven.
  10. Cook for 3-4 hours, or until the meat is fork-tender.
  11. Let the roast rest for a few minutes before slicing and serve with the caramelized onions and juices from the pot.

Notes

Serve alongside mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or fresh bread to soak up the delicious juices.
