Lavender-Vanilla Bean Syrup

A delightful and fragrant syrup that blends sweet vanilla notes with calming lavender, perfect for enhancing drinks and desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cane sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons culinary lavender buds
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, split (or 1 teaspoon vanilla paste)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the cane sugar and water. Place the saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir the mixture until the sugar has completely dissolved and the water is clear.
  3. Once the sugar is dissolved, add the culinary lavender buds and the split vanilla bean (or vanilla paste).
  4. Allow the mixture to simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes. Keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t boil too vigorously.
  5. After 10 minutes, remove the saucepan from heat. Cover it and let it steep for 20 minutes.
  6. After steeping, strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove the lavender buds and vanilla bean.
  7. Let the syrup cool completely before transferring it to a glass container for storage.

Notes

This syrup can last about one month in the refrigerator and can be frozen in ice cube trays for future use. Great for gifting when bottled nicely.
