Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain the excess fat.

  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, paprika, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix everything well to combine.
  4. Bring the mixture to a simmer. Once it is bubbling, add the elbow macaroni.
  5. Cover the pot and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the macaroni is cooked through and tender.
  6. Optional: If desired, top the goulash with shredded cheddar cheese before serving. Allow the cheese to melt for a minute.
  7. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Old-Fashioned Goulash!
