Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Toast the pecans by adding them to a medium saucepan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  2. Pour the water and sugar into the saucepan with the toasted pecans, stirring to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, reserving the syrup and discarding the pecans.
  5. Allow the syrup to cool at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  6. Pour the cooled syrup into a bottle or mason jar and store it in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

Store the syrup in a clean jar or bottle, tightly closed. For longer storage, freeze the syrup in ice cube trays.
