A visually stunning and delicious puff pastry Christmas tree filled with fresh basil pesto and gooey cheese, perfect for festive gatherings.

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 tbsp basil pesto
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or grated Gruyère
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish)
  • Pomegranate seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the puff pastry package instructions.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface.
  3. Cut the pastry into a tree shape, reserving any scraps for branches.
  4. Spread basil pesto over the pastry.
  5. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella or Gruyère cheese on top of the pesto.
  6. Fold the branches over to create a tree effect, separating the layers so they stand up.
  7. Brush the edges with egg wash for a golden finish.
  8. Garnish with fresh rosemary and pomegranate seeds.
  9. Bake according to puff pastry package instructions until golden brown.
  10. Let cool slightly, then serve as a festive centerpiece.
