Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate

A delightful treat that combines chocolate and pumpkin spice, perfect for warming you up on chilly evenings.

Ingredients

  • 11/4 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  • 12 tablespoons pumpkin puree
  • 12 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch ground cloves
  • Pinch kosher or sea salt
  • 3 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped (or 1/2 cup chips)
  • Option to omit brown sugar and use 2 ounces white chocolate instead

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, whisk together all ingredients except for the chocolate.
  2. Place the pot over medium-low heat, stirring until small bubbles form around the edges.
  3. Lower the heat to low and add your chosen chocolate, stirring until melted and shiny, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
  5. Serve and enjoy immediately!

Notes

For an extra special treat, consider making Brown Sugar Whipped Cream or a bourbon-spiked version.
