Watermelon Basil Lemonade

A refreshing twist on classic lemonade, this Watermelon Basil Lemonade combines the sweetness of watermelon, the herbal notes of basil, and the tartness of lemon for a perfect summer drink.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh watermelon, cubed
  • 810 fresh basil leaves
  • Juice of 3 large lemons
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup
  • Cold water, to taste
  • Ice cubes, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cube the watermelon and blend it until smooth. Strain if desired.
  2. Juice the lemons and add the juice to the blender with the watermelon.
  3. Add the basil leaves (muddled or clapped to release flavor) to the blender.
  4. Pour in the simple syrup and taste. Adjust sweetness with more syrup if needed.
  5. Add cold water until you reach your desired consistency.
  6. Serve over ice with additional basil for garnish.

Notes

Keep basil leaves out until serving for the freshest taste. This beverage actually improves if chilled overnight.
