Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (from 68 lemons)
  • 3/4 cup sugar (or 1/2 cup honey)
  • 2 tablespoons rose water
  • 810 fresh basil leaves
  • 4 cups cold filtered water
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices, for garnish
  • Reserved basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash basil leaves and set aside 2–3 for garnish. Prepare the rest for muddling.
  2. In a pitcher, mix lemon juice and sugar until sugar dissolves.
  3. Add rose water and gently muddle 5–6 basil leaves into the mixture to release oils.
  4. Pour in 4 cups cold filtered water and stir well.
  5. Fill with ice and let rest 10–15 minutes for flavors to meld. Adjust sweetness or rose water to taste.
  6. Serve over fresh ice in glasses, garnished with basil leaves and lemon slices.

Notes

Use high-quality rose water for the best flavor. Chill fully before serving to enhance floral and herbal notes. For a sparkling version, replace half the water with club soda just before serving.
