Slow Cooker Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls

A comforting dish combining all the flavors of traditional stuffed cabbage rolls without the fuss of rolling them, perfect for busy days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
  • 14-ounce can petite diced tomatoes
  • 6-ounce can tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef: Heat a skillet on medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until slightly pink, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  2. Cook the onion and seasonings: Add diced onion and seasonings to the skillet with beef. Cook until onions soften, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Transfer to the slow cooker: Transfer the meat mixture to the slow cooker and add the chopped cabbage evenly.
  4. Mix the sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and water. Stir until mixed.
  5. Pour the sauce: Pour the sauce over the meat and cabbage in the slow cooker without mixing too much.
  6. Cook the dish: Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours until the cabbage is tender and flavors meld.

Notes

Serve with fresh parsley or cheese sprinkle on top. It pairs well with crusty bread or side salad. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for 2-3 months.
