Southern Fried Chicken

Southern fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, a perfect dish for family dinners or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 4 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Mix the Eggs and Milk: Beat the eggs in a bowl and add the milk, mixing well.
  2. Prepare the Flour Mixture: In a large plastic bag, combine flour, garlic salt, black pepper, poultry seasoning, and paprika. Shake to mix.
  3. Coat the Chicken: Place chicken pieces in the bag with the flour mixture, seal it, and shake until coated.
  4. Double Dip the Chicken: Dip the flour-coated chicken into the egg mixture, let excess drip off, then place it back in the bag with the flour and shake again to coat.
  5. Heat the Oil: Heat oil in a skillet to 365 degrees F.
  6. Fry the Chicken: Carefully add chicken to hot oil, browning on all sides for 3 to 4 minutes per side.
  7. Cook Through: Turn the heat down to medium-low, cover the skillet, and cook for another 30 minutes until cooked through (165 degrees F internally).
  8. Drain and Serve: Remove chicken from pan and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.

Notes

Leftover fried chicken can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for 2 months. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
