Valentine’s Day Treats

Delightful heart-shaped cookies and decadent chocolates perfect for expressing love on Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 8 oz chocolate
  • 1 cup cream
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. Slowly add flour and mix until you form a dough.
  4. Roll out cookie dough to about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
  6. Place heart-shaped cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  8. For chocolates, melt chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water.
  9. Mix in cream to make ganache and add food coloring if desired.
  10. Pour chocolate ganache into heart-shaped molds and chill until firm.
  11. Once cookies are cool, decorate as desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Freeze cookies without decoration for up to three months.
