Delicate green macarons filled with a festive Christmas tree cake buttercream, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Green gel food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Gold and white sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Set aside.
  3. Beat egg whites in a separate bowl until foamy, then gradually add granulated sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Mix in vanilla extract and green gel food coloring.
  4. Gently fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites, being careful not to deflate the meringue.
  5. Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheets.
  6. Sprinkle the piped macarons with gold and white sanding sugar.
  7. Let the macarons sit for 30-60 minutes until they form a skin.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until they have risen and the tops are smooth. Allow to cool completely.
  9. Prepare your favorite cake buttercream filling, then pipe between two macaron shells to create sandwiches.
