Best Southern Green Bean Casserole

A lighter, diabetic-friendly twist on the classic green bean casserole, perfect for Thanksgiving or any gathering.

  • 2 Cans of Green Beans
  • 1 Can of Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1 Cup of Milk
  • 1 Cup of Crispy Fried Onions
  • 1 Teaspoon of Soy Sauce
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and soy sauce in a large mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix the ingredients until well incorporated.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes.
  6. Add half of the crispy fried onions after 25 minutes and stir gently.
  7. Top with the remaining fried onions.
  8. Bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free cream of mushroom soup and ensure fried onions are gluten-free. This dish can be prepared a day in advance.
