Blackberry Sage Bourbon-Free Sidecar

A refreshing and guilt-free cocktail capturing the essence of summer, made with fresh blackberries and sage.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 810 fresh sage leaves
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons raw honey or honey syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon orange extract or zest of 1/2 orange
  • 1/4 cup sparkling water
  • Ice cubes (preferably large ice sphere)
  • Fresh blackberries and sage sprigs for garnish
  • Optional: sugar rim with edible glitter

Instructions

  1. Muddle 6-8 blackberries with 4-5 sage leaves in a cocktail shaker to release flavors (don’t crush completely).
  2. Add fresh lemon juice and honey to the shaker.
  3. Include orange extract or zest.
  4. Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
  5. Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
  6. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a coupe glass filled with ice or one large ice sphere.
  7. Top with sparkling water and stir gently.
  8. Garnish with fresh blackberries and a sage sprig on the rim or floating on top.
  9. Optional: rim the glass with colored sugar for extra sophistication.
  10. Serve immediately with a cocktail stirrer.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh; can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
