Creamy Pumpkin Pie Black Tea

A cozy drink that combines rich black tea with pumpkin puree and warm spices, perfect for autumn evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tsp Ceylon black tea (or other strong black tea)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin powder or 2 tbsp pumpkin puree
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 12 tbsp brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or plant-based milk (optional)
  • Cinnamon stick, star anise, or whipped cream (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Then add the black tea and simmer for 3-5 minutes. If using tea bags, steep for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the pumpkin puree or pumpkin powder, along with the cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger. Let it simmer for 2 more minutes to blend the flavors.
  3. Stir in the brown sugar to your desired sweetness. If you want a creamy version, add the milk at this stage and let the tea heat gently without boiling for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Strain the tea into mugs, removing the tea leaves and any solid bits of pumpkin. If desired, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon, a cinnamon stick, star anise or whipped cream. Enjoy!

Notes

Store leftover tea in the refrigerator for up to two days. Do not freeze, as it may separate.
