Easter Blossom Sugar Cookies

Soft, sweet cookies shaped with a chocolate kiss in the center, perfect for spring gatherings and easy to make.

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
  • Chocolate kisses or similar candies

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a small bowl.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar in a large bowl until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and roll in granulated sugar.
  7. Place on ungreased cookie sheets, and bake for 8-10 minutes in the preheated oven.
  8. Remove from oven and immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie.
  9. Let cool before serving.
