Ground Beef and Gravy

A classic comfort food that’s healthy and protein-packed, perfect for family meals or meal prep.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika (optional)
  • 2 cups of prepared mashed potatoes

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Brown the ground beef in the skillet for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  4. Sprinkle the flour evenly over the cooked beef mixture and stir well.
  5. Pour in the beef broth slowly while stirring constantly.
  6. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  7. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Adjust flavors to taste.
  8. Let the beef and gravy simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
  9. Serve the savory ground beef and gravy over warm mashed potatoes.

Notes

For a healthier option, use lean ground beef and consider low-carb alternatives for mashed potatoes like cauliflower mash.
