Homemade Stovetop Green Bean Casserole

A healthier twist on the classic green bean casserole, packed with flavor and perfect for any holiday meal.

  • 2 cans (15 oz each) green beans, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/3 cups French fried onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven or air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and milk in a large mixing bowl until well mixed.
  3. Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Add 2/3 cup of French fried onions into the green bean mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish or air fryer basket, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake in the oven for about 25 minutes or in the air fryer for about 15 minutes, until heated through.
  7. Top with the remaining French fried onions.
  8. Return to the oven or air fryer and bake for an additional 5 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

Consider using low-fat cream of mushroom soup for an even healthier option. This dish can be prepared ahead and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
