Pear Puff Pastry Tart with Caramelized Onion

A delightful tart combining the sweetness of pears and the savory depth of caramelized onions, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (thawed)
  • All-purpose flour (for dusting)
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon of water (for egg wash)
  • 2 small pears (thinly sliced)
  • ½ cup caramelized onions
  • ½ cup walnut halves and pieces
  • ¼ cup Gorgonzola or other blue cheese
  • 3 tablespoons honey (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking liner.
  3. Lightly dust working surface with flour and roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle (about 10×15 inches).
  4. Fold in the edges of the pastry about ½ inch to create a border.
  5. Use a fork to pierce the inner part of the puff pastry.
  6. Brush the pastry with the egg wash.
  7. Layer thinly sliced pears on the pastry.
  8. Evenly spread the caramelized onions over the pears.
  9. Add the walnut halves and pieces over the onions and pears.
  10. Crumble the Gorgonzola cheese evenly over the tart.
  11. Bake for about 25 minutes until golden and puffed up.
  12. Drizzle honey over the baked tart.
  13. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Serve warm and consider adding extra drizzles of honey and fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary for an enhanced flavor.
