Poison Apple Punch

A fun and festive drink combining fresh ingredients with memorable flavors, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 thick slices of fresh ginger, peeled
  • 6 cups of apple cider
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 to 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 red apple, sliced into 8 wedges
  • Gummy worms (for garnish)
  • 1 750-ml bottle of sparkling cranberry-apple juice
  • 1 cup of cinnamon whiskey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ginger by smashing the slices with a chopping knife.
  2. Transfer the ginger to a saucepan, adding the apple cider, orange zest, lemon zest, cinnamon sticks, and cloves.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Let it cook for about 10 minutes to blend the flavors, then strain the contents through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher.
  5. Allow the punch to cool to room temperature before refrigerating for about an hour.
  6. Slice the red apple into 8 wedges and poke holes in each wedge to insert gummy worms.
  7. Add sparkling cranberry-apple juice and optional whiskey to the pitcher, mixing well.
  8. Serve the punch over ice in glasses, garnished with apple wedges and gummy worms.

Notes

This punch can be made ahead of time and is ideal for parties. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
