Cheesy Potato Roll with Spiced Meat Filling

A hearty gluten-free potato roll filled with spiced minced meat and topped with melted kasar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1.5 cups grated kasar cheese (divided)
  • 400 grams minced meat (ground beef or beef/lamb blend)
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 medium onion, finely diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, finely diced
  • 2 green peppers, finely diced
  • 3 small tomatoes, grated or blended into a puree
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 handful of fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a large rimmed baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the peeled potatoes into thin, uniform rounds about 2 to 3 mm thick. Pat the slices dry.
  3. Scatter half of the grated kasar cheese on the baking tray, then arrange the potato slices overlapping on top.
  4. Drizzle 1/4 cup vegetable oil over the potatoes, then sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden.
  5. Heat 1/4 cup vegetable oil in a skillet, add minced meat and cook until browned.
  6. Add onion, bell peppers, and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in tomato paste, grated tomatoes, salt, paprika, and parsley.
  7. Simmer until thickened, then pour the meat mixture over the baked potatoes.
  8. Roll the potato sheet tightly using the parchment paper, forming a cylinder.
  9. Top with remaining grated kasar cheese and return to the oven for 8 to 10 minutes until melted.
  10. Slice after resting for 5 minutes and serve.

Notes

Use parchment paper to prevent sticking. Ensure potato slices overlap to avoid cracking.
