Spooky Halloween Scream Raspberry Pie

A delightful and healthier dessert option packed with fresh raspberries, perfect for Halloween celebrations.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 5 cups fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 4 tbsp cornstarch
  • Cinnamon and sugar mixture for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour and salt, then cutting in the shortening.
  3. Add the cold water and mix until the dough comes together.
  4. Divide the dough into two balls for the bottom and top crusts.
  5. Roll out the first dough ball and place it into a 9-inch pie plate.
  6. Make the top crust design using a ‘Scream’ face template.
  7. Prepare the raspberry filling by mixing raspberries with sugar and cornstarch.
  8. Assemble the pie with the raspberry filling and top crust.
  9. Add the cinnamon and sugar mixture on top.
  10. Bake for 20 minutes at 425°F, then reduce to 350°F and bake for another 25-30 minutes.
  11. Cool the pie for 3-5 hours before serving.

Notes

This pie is great for meal prep and can be stored in the fridge for up to three days or frozen for longer storage. Use a natural sweetener to reduce sugar content.
