Turkish Black Tea

A traditional Turkish black tea that is rich in flavor and perfect for any time of the day, bringing people together.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons black tea leaves (preferably Rize or Çaykur brand)
  • 4 cups water (for the teapot)
  • 4 cups water (for boiling)
  • Sugar (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Water: Start by boiling four cups of water in the kettle.
  2. Add Tea Leaves: While the water is boiling, add the black tea leaves to the top part of the two-tiered teapot.
  3. Combine Water: Pour about one cup of boiling water over the tea leaves in the top pot.
  4. Brew: Place the top pot on the bottom pot, add the rest of the boiled water to the bottom pot, cover both pots, and let the tea brew for 10-15 minutes.
  5. Serve the Tea: After brewing, take the top pot off, dilute the tea with water from the bottom pot if desired, and pour into small glasses.
  6. Add Sugar: Sweeten the tea with sugar to taste and stir gently.
  7. Enjoy: Savor your Turkish black tea slowly and share it with others.

Notes

Turkish black tea is best enjoyed fresh, and can be served plain or sweetened. Small elegant glasses enhance the experience.
