Rudolph’s Cherry Christmas Punch

Rudolph’s Cherry Christmas Punch is deep red, sweet and tart, and topped with cherries — a fun, festive punch that looks like Christmas in a glass.

It takes 10 minutes to make, no cooking, and it serves 8 to 10 glasses. It is non-alcoholic, so it works for the kids’ table and the adults’ table alike.

Why you’ll love this recipe

Cherry juice is the star here, with cranberry juice for tartness and lemon-lime soda for fizz. Maraschino cherries on top give it the Rudolph touch, and orange slices and rosemary make it look finished without any extra work.

It is a batch drink, so you make it once in a pitcher and let everyone help themselves.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cherry juice, chilled
  • 2 cups cranberry juice, chilled
  • 2 cups lemon-lime soda, chilled
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, with 2 tablespoons of the cherry juice from the jar
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 4 sprigs fresh rosemary, for garnish
  • Ice, to serve

How to make Rudolph’s Cherry Christmas Punch

  1. Pour the cherry juice and cranberry juice into a large pitcher or punch bowl and stir.
  2. Add the maraschino cherries and the 2 tablespoons of juice from the jar, and stir again.
  1. Add the orange slices.
Step 3 — Adding orange slices, square
  1. Just before serving, pour in the lemon-lime soda and stir gently, so you do not lose the fizz.
Step 4 — Pouring in the lemon-lime soda, square
  1. Add ice, and serve in glasses topped with a few cherries and a sprig of rosemary.

Make ahead and serving tips

Mix the cherry juice, cranberry juice, cherries and orange slices up to a day ahead and keep it covered in the fridge. Add the lemon-lime soda and ice just before serving.

If you want it a little less tart, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of sugar or honey to the juice base and stir until it dissolves, then taste before you add more.

For a party, serve it in a clear punch bowl so the deep red colour, cherries and orange slices show.
